In addition to Dr. Henderson, Finding Balance DO, LLC is proud to welcome new talent to our practice. Our team includes psychiatric residents, fellows, physician assistants, and other clinical and administrative specialists. Under the direct supervision of Dr. Henderson, these dedicated professionals collaborate to provide exceptional psychiatric care to our growing patient community.

Ernesto Henderson, DO

Dr. Ernesto Henderson is a double board-certified psychiatrist in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry, leading the team at Finding Balance DO, LLC, in New York, NY, as founder and CEO. Specializing in comprehensive mental health care for both adults and children, he brings extensive expertise in treating a wide range of conditions, including ADHD, depression, and anxiety. As an osteopathic physician, Dr. Henderson also incorporates Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) into his practice, offering a holistic approach to patient care.

Born and raised in Fort Washington, MD, Dr. Henderson began his educational journey at the University of Iowa, where he completed his undergraduate studies. He then pursued his medical degree at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Central Harlem, NY. Following graduation, Dr. Henderson completed a Traditional Rotating Internship at HMH Palisades Medical Center in New Jersey, a general psychiatry residency at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, DC, and later a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, NY.

In January 2025, Dr. Henderson joined Kings County Hospital Center as part of NYC Health + Hospitals as Unit Chief of the ‘First Break’ psychosis unit, in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Inpatient Service (CAPIS), and now serves as faculty at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. He also holds an upcoming affiliation with Maimonides Medical Center. Previously, he held hospital privileges at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and was an associate clinical professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in Manhattan.

In addition to English, Dr. Henderson is proficient in French and Spanish, with some knowledge of Japanese, making him accessible to a diverse patient population. He is dedicated to supporting both new and returning patients at Finding Balance and is deeply committed to advancing accessible mental health care in New York and beyond.

Jasmine E. Kim, MD

Dr. Jasmine E. Kim is a distinguished psychiatrist currently completing her final year of residency in General Psychiatry at the State University of New York (SUNY), Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, NY. She has a robust educational background and holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Duke University, where she also minored in Psychology and Asian & Middle Eastern Studies.

Throughout her career, Dr. Kim has been heavily involved in psychiatric research. She has made significant contributions to studies on mental well-being post-COVID-19, measurement-based care in inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry, and the transgenerational effects of adverse childhood experiences. Her work has been presented at prestigious conferences and published in various academic journals.

In addition to her research and clinical responsibilities, Dr. Kim has demonstrated leadership in multiple capacities. She currently serves as a Chief Resident of Psychiatry at SUNY Downstate. She has been instrumental in improving communication and workflow for transcranial magnetic stimulation treatments. As Co-President and Secretary/Treasurer of the Tulane Klingenstein Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship, she enhanced mentorship and advocacy initiatives for mental health awareness.

Dr. Kim advocates community service and volunteerism. She has participated in numerous educational and medical outreach programs domestically and internationally. Her professional affiliations include the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association, among others.

Her dedication to psychiatry and the betterment of mental health care is evident in her clinical and research activities and her commitment to education and leadership within the medical community.

Aaron Pinzon, PA-C

Renzo Costa, MD

Nikesh Shah, DO

Aaron Pinzon, PA-C, brings extensive clinical experience and a dedicated approach to patient-centered care to Finding Balance DO, LLC. With a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the New York Institute of Technology, where he graduated with distinction (GPA: 3.91), Aaron has worked in a wide range of clinical environments. His experience includes managing chronic and acute medical issues on psychiatric units, providing urgent and routine care in mobile clinics serving New York City’s five boroughs, and specializing in wound care, mental health assessment, and preventative medicine.

Aaron’s background also includes a fellowship in emergency medicine, providing him with hands-on experience in high-acuity settings and a thorough understanding of multidisciplinary healthcare needs. His clinical rotations covered specialties from psychiatry to internal medicine and general surgery, honing his skills across diverse patient populations.

As a board-certified physician assistant (NCCPA), Aaron holds certifications in both Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support, underlining his commitment to quality care. His research on posttraumatic stress symptoms in healthcare providers during COVID-19 reflects his dedication to understanding the complexities of mental health within medical practice. At Finding Balance, Aaron is passionate about delivering holistic and compassionate care, drawing on his varied experience to support patients' mental and physical health needs.

Dr. Renzo Costa is a psychiatry resident with a wide-ranging background in neuroscience, global health, and psychedelic medicine. A graduate of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Dr. Costa is currently completing his psychiatry training at Saint Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, DC, and pursuing a master’s in Psychoactive Pharmaceutical Investigation at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

He brings a dynamic and globally informed perspective to mental health care, having trained and volunteered in diverse settings from Paris to the Dominican Republic. His clinical interests include treatment-resistant depression, psychosis, and the therapeutic potential of ketamine and psychedelic-assisted therapies. His research has been published in journals such as CNS Spectrums and The Journal of Personalized Medicine, and he has presented nationally on topics ranging from MDMA in mental health to the neuropsychiatric effects of ketamine.

Fluent in English, Spanish, and French, Dr. Costa strives to create a compassionate, culturally sensitive space for his patients. He integrates psychodynamic understanding with evidence-based psychopharmacology, emphasizing collaborative and person-centered care. Outside of medicine, he is a DJ, electronic music producer, and an advocate for mental wellness through art, meditation, and cross-cultural connection.

Dr. Nikesh Shah is a psychiatry resident physician with extensive training in mental health, currently serving as Chief Resident of Ambulatory Services and Medical Student Education at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. A graduate of NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Shah brings a strong foundation in integrative neuroscience and a commitment to whole-person care.

Known for his warm, down-to-earth approach, Dr. Shah combines clinical expertise with a passion for teaching, advocacy, and collaborative treatment. His leadership in medical student education and outpatient psychiatry reflects his dedication to both mentorship and innovation in mental health services.

Dr. Shah’s research includes projects on improving access to psychosocial rehabilitation services and understanding the metabolic impacts of antipsychotic medications. He has also contributed to nationally recognized work exploring sensory processing in autism, presented at multiple medical conferences, and received awards for his contributions to psychiatric education.

Fluent in Gujarati and Hindi and conversational in Punjabi and Spanish, Dr. Shah values culturally attuned care and creates a welcoming space for patients from diverse backgrounds. Outside of psychiatry, he enjoys basketball, music production, and experimenting in the kitchen.

Dr. Shah is excited to bring his enthusiasm, compassion, and clinical insight to the team at Finding Balance.

Kei Takamura, PharmD

Dr. Kei (Kay) Takamura, PharmD, BCPS, BCPP, serves as the Apothecary-In-Chief at Finding Balance DO LLC. A highly accomplished psychiatric pharmacist, Dr. Takamura brings a wealth of expertise in psychopharmacology, medication safety, and interdisciplinary care to our practice.

Dr. Takamura completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where she also completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency focusing on acute care. She further specialized in psychiatric pharmacy with a PGY2 residency at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Dr. Takamura is board-certified in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) and Psychiatric Pharmacy (BCPP), underscoring her advanced training and commitment to excellence in psychiatric medication management.

In her most recent role as Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator for Psychiatry at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, Dr. Takamura developed innovative clinical pharmacy roles in consult liaison, inpatient, and outpatient psychiatry services. She provided invaluable expertise during multidisciplinary rounds, ensured the safe and effective use of psychotropics, and served as a Clozapine REMS designee. Her leadership in performance improvement initiatives and preceptorship of PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy trainees highlights her dedication to education and quality care.

Dr. Takamura's scholarly contributions include research on long-acting injectable antipsychotics and opioid use disorders, with publications in leading pharmacy and mental health journals. She has also delivered numerous professional presentations and continuing education lectures on topics ranging from QTc prolongation with psychotropics to antipsychotic use during pregnancy.

Fluent in Japanese and proficient in SAS programming, Dr. Takamura embodies a commitment to bridging cultures and advancing data-driven care. Her leadership, academic appointments, and affiliations with prominent organizations like the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists reflect her dedication to advancing the field of psychiatric pharmacy.
